Job summary

Canonical is hiring a Golang software engineer for the LXD team to work on system-level Go code between REST API and low-level C libraries. This remote role covers the Americas and EMEA, with travel for internal and external events.

You will model data, design database schemas in a dqlite database, and maintain code quality with tests while collaborating across a distributed team. Strong Go/C skills, networking and storage knowledge, and open source passion are valued.

Qualifications

• Experience programming in Go and C.
• Knowledgeable in networking and storage technologies.
• Experience with two or more of: cloud computing, virtualization, containers, distributed systems, open source community.
• Curious, flexible, articulate and accountable.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and document system level Go code.
• Model data, design database schema and implement data storage in a dqlite (SQL) database.
• Maintain code quality through static analysis, unit and system tests.
• Collaborate proactively with a distributed team.
• Discuss ideas and collaborate on finding good solutions.
• Work from home with global travel 2 to 4 weeks/year for internal and external events.
