Job summary

Family Service of Rhode Island (FSRI) seeks a Crisis Intervention Specialist to provide on-scene crisis intervention, emergency screening, and triage in collaboration with local police departments across Rhode Island. The role involves information sharing, emotional and language support, and referrals to trauma treatment and government benefits, with travel to community locations as needed.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, strong crisis management and communication

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Criminal justice or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with law enforcement strongly preferred.
  • Excellent crisis management and intervention skills.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Possession of valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and proof of current automobile insurance.
  • English/Spanish verbal and written bilingual skills highly preferred.
  • Ability to utilize a computer, the internet, and documentation software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and to take initiative and work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of local community RI victim/trauma focused services and supports highly preferred.
  • Prior experience working with trauma victims preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-scene crisis intervention and emergency screening.
  • Perform triage and information/referral in collaboration with law enforcement.
  • Offer emotional support and language support to individuals and families.

Job Details: Job Location: Pleasant Street - Providence, RI, Position Type: Full Time, Education Level: 4 Year Degree, Salary Range: $22.00 - $27.35Hourly, Travel Percentage: Negligible, Job Shift: Day, FSRI is always looking for candidates that want to make a positive impact on the community!


Position Summary: Responsible for providing on-scene crisis intervention, emergency screening and triage, information, emotional support, language support, and referral in collaboration with law enforcement to children, youth, individuals and families exposed to victimization and trauma in the community. Provide appropriate follow up support and resources for assistance with the criminal justice system, trauma treatment, and access to basic needs, treatment, and government benefits.

Physical Requirements

This position co-locates at various Police Departments in Rhode Island and may require community visits. Employees in this position must have the ability to:



  • Travel to and from community locations and office sites, which could include using walkways, stairs and/or elevators.

  • Ability to lift up to 20lbs.

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
