Job summary

Transition Technologies PSC is seeking an exceptionally experienced Principal Go Engineer to own and design critical platform components of a large-scale distributed data and analytics platform. You will lead architecture, take ownership from design to production, and mentor senior engineers in a Kubernetes-based cloud/on-prem environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience
• 5+ years of substantial commercial experience with Go
• Experience as Staff Engineer/Principal Engineer/Technical Lead or Solution Architect
• Proven ownership of complex production systems
• Strong background in distributed, highly available systems
• Experience with data platforms handling high volumes of events/data
• Deep knowledge of Go (concurrency, memory, profiling, testing, performance)
• Understanding of distributed systems concepts: partitioning/replication, eventual consistency, idempotency, retries, high availability
• Extensive experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming platform
• Strong experience with microservices and RESTful API design
• Advanced SQL skills and PostgreSQL
• Production experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience diagnosing incidents in distributed environments
• Obs., security, and reliable software delivery focus
• Ability to communicate architectural decisions clearly
• Very good command of English
• Practical experience using AI coding tools to accelerate development
• Experience introducing AI-assisted workflows with security/quality in mind
• Background in networking, observability, or high-volume data platforms
• Preference for pragmatic trade-offs over complexity

Responsibilities

• Designing and developing scalable, fault-tolerant backend services in Go
• Building high-throughput data ingestion and event-processing pipelines
• Designing event-driven architectures based on Apache Kafka
• Defining service boundaries, data flows and communication patterns
• Making architectural decisions on scalability, consistency, availability and failure recovery
• Diagnosing performance, concurrency and production reliability issues
• Improving engineering standards for code quality, testing, observability and security
• Leading complex technical initiatives and mentoring engineers
• Collaborating with architects, DevOps, product teams and domain experts
