Empower seeks a Principal Data Engineer to lead hands‑on data engineering efforts in a dynamic, growth‑driven environment. You will design, build, and optimize scalable data services and streaming pipelines, while championing data governance and cloud‑native platforms.

The role requires 10+ years of experience, AWS certification, and expert skills in Python, Spark, SQL, and modern data architectures. You will mentor engineers and partner with leadership to shape enterprise data strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 10+ years of data engineering experience.
• AWS certification required.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python, Spark, SQL.
• Extensive hands-on experience with AWS and distributed data systems.
• Proven experience building streaming data solutions and scalable data platforms.
• Deep expertise in data modeling, ETL/ELT, and data governance.
• Terraform or similar infrastructure‑as‑code tooling experience.
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
• Excellent communication with executives and cross‑functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize scalable data engineering solutions including streaming data services and data pipelines.
• Lead hands‑on engineering delivery and not solely architectural work.
• Define and drive data engineering standards and reusable frameworks.
• Architect and implement complex, scalable data platforms and solutions.
• Lead cross‑functional data initiatives across the organization.
• Build and support streaming/data services for enterprise use with hands‑on development.
• Establish data governance, security, data quality, and data management standards.
• Ensure enterprise data platforms are reliable, secure, and broadly consumable.
• Drive modernization of data platforms and cloud‑based services.
