Job summary

Catalyx seeks an Automation Engineer to support plasmid manufacturing operations and plant automation systems. The role emphasizes hands-on automation, controls, and maintaining compliant operations in a regulated environment.

You will troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and instrumentation, participate in commissioning and qualification, and collaborate with Manufacturing, Maintenance, and Quality teams to improve reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Automation, or related field.
2–5 years of automation or manufacturing engineering experience.
Experience with PLC/SCADA/HMI and industrial control systems.
Familiarity with GMP/regulated environments is a plus.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Ability to work across Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams.
Willingness to provide on-call support.

Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day automation and controls support for plasmid manufacturing processes and plant operations.
Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation and related equipment.
Support maintenance, modification, and optimization of automation systems.
Assist with testing, implementation, and documentation of changes.
Participate in commissioning, qualification, startup, and troubleshooting activities.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors on automation projects.
Maintain accurate technical documentation and change controls.
Support investigations, CAPAs, and other quality activities related to automation.
