Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. in Rahway, NJ, is seeking a GMP Analytical Scientist for a newly established GMP laboratory within our R&D facility. The role supports API and formulation testing, method validation, and collaboration with R&D project leads to advance drug candidates toward market.

The candidate will gain experience in chromatography, dissolution, particle size analysis, viscometry, and related techniques, while contributing to a cross-functional team in a highly collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Pharmacy, or other scientific discipline.
• Minimum 1 year of pharmaceutical experience.
• Experience in GMP environments and SOP governance.
• Ability to work under supervision of a laboratory supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Execute GMP method validation for APIs, excipients, and formulated drug products.
• Support a pilot manufacturing plant through testing of APIs, excipients, packaging materials, and cleaning samples.
• Coordinate with R&D leads to assess project needs, timelines and priorities.
• Adhere to GMP processes and SOPs; maintain data integrity and thorough documentation.
• Support analytical development of high-priority drug candidates.
