Grand Lake Health System in the United States is seeking a Part-time Patient Care Tech for 24 hours per week with shifts 08:00–16:30. The role supports providers by performing basic clinical tasks and assisting with patient care in GLPP units.

Qualifications include a High School diploma or equivalent; CMA certification is preferred but not required for PCT duties. Prior healthcare experience is valued; weekend and holiday shifts are not required.

• Greets and escorts patients through the medical practice.
• Observes patients and reports unusual conditions to RN or Provider.
• Draws venous blood specimens and delivers to Laboratory when requested.
• Maintains patient records and documents care performed on GLPP patients.
• Transports patients safely and assists transfers using proper technique.

Duties and Key Responsibilities

• PCT’s can perform basic care and procedures on GLPP patients as directed by the Provider.
• With appropriate training and delegation, the Patient Care Tech may perform the following procedures: performing blood glucose monitoring, phlebotomy, waived testing and documentation of result, specimen collection, assisting with supervised physician exams (rectal, vaginal) if gender appropriate, and intake which includes rooming of patients, history, and vital signs.
• PCT’s may NOT perform medication or immunization administration, setting up and sending of prescriptions refills, or medication reconciliation.
• Greets and escorts patients through the medical practice.
• Observes patients and reports unusual conditions and / or reactions to RN or Provider.
• Draws venous blood specimens from patients as directed by Provider following departmental procedures for patient identification and labeling of specimens.
• Deliver specimens directly to Laboratory upon request.
• Acts as focus of communication in the patient care area regarding all staff, physicians, patient care activities, family, and visitor requests, etc.
• Provides indirect patient care procedures (cleaning, stocking, maintaining equipment, etc.)
• Transports patients in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort, assisting patients in / out of wheelchairs using proper transfer techniques and equipment.
• Keeps patient records current, documenting all patient care completed on GLPP patients. 052423 (JC 429-877 to 899) Demonstrates a consistent level of performance, strives to maintain a steady level of productivity, and provides a consistent effort.
• Responsible for completing all assigned work during shift without sacrificing the quality of the work.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Certifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.

Preferred

• Successful completion of at least one quarter or semester of clinical work and medical terminology in a health-related program with a grade of C or higher.
• Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA preferred, not required for PCT job duties.
• Experience Required: A minimum of one years of experience in an appropriate health care setting such as physician office, hospital, clinic, or EMT squad.
• Preferred: Two or more years of experience in an appropriate health care setting such as physician office, hospital, clinic, or EMT squad.
