Job summary

Grand Lake Health System is seeking a PT Patient Care Technician/Medical Assistant in Coldwater, MI. The role supports providers with patient care, phlebotomy, basic tests, and patient intake.

Responsibilities include greeting patients, recording vitals, and assisting with physician exams as delegated. Requires HS diploma; CMA preferred but not required. 24 hours per week, 08:00–16:30, no weekends or holidays.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: one quarter/semester of clinical work with grade C or higher.
• Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA preferred, not required for PCT duties.
• Minimum: 1 year experience in a health care setting (physician office, hospital, clinic, or EMT squad).
• Preferred: 2+ years of health care experience.

Responsibilities

• Greets and escorts patients through the medical practice.
• Observes patients and reports unusual conditions to RN or Provider.
• Performs basic patient care tasks as directed (glucose monitoring, phlebotomy, waived tests, etc.) and documents results.
• Intake: rooming patients, taking histories, and vital signs.
• Draws venous blood specimens and delivers to Laboratory when requested.
• Transports patients safely and assists with transfers.
• Keeps patient records current with completed care.

With appropriate training and delegation, the Patient Care Tech may perform the following procedures: performing blood glucose monitoring, phlebotomy, waived testing and documentation of result, specimen collection, assisting with supervised physician exams (rectal, vaginal) if gender appropriate, and intake which includes rooming of patients, history, and vital signs.. PCT’s may NOT perform medication or immunization administration, setting up and sending of prescriptions refills, or medication reconciliation.* ## Greets and escorts patients through the medical practice.* ## Observes patients and reports unusual conditions and / or reactions to RN or Provider.* ## Draws venous blood specimens from patients as directed by Provider following departmental procedures for patient identification and labeling of specimens.
