Job summary

GM Financial is seeking a Global Workload Automation Delivery Engineer III to join our technology team. You will help design, implement and optimize batch jobs and workflows across Linux, UNIX, AIX and Windows systems, collaborating with internal and external partners to meet business needs.

The role emphasizes mentoring, incident resolution, process improvements, and cross‑functional work in a flexible hybrid environment with two in-office days per week.

Qualifications

  • Proven abilities in engineering batch jobs and workflows
  • Proficiency at coding scripts in Unix, Linux and Windows system interface languages to facilitate workflow development
  • Operating Systems fluency with Linux, UNIX, AIX, and Windows
  • Familiarity with ITIL Service Management framework principles
  • Exposure to working with geographically dispersed teams
  • Experience with the system aspects of automation software
  • Must have high attention to detail, be well organized and a self-starter
  • Must be able to work with limited to moderate direct supervision
  • Readily and actively shares knowledge
  • Embraces diversity of ideas from team members and leaders
  • Easily adapts to new technologies and environment changes
  • Ability to identify, develop, document and implement industry best practices centered on workload automation technologies

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze automation needs and provide deliverables as assigned
  • Utilizes workload automation software to develop and implement batch jobs, workflows, and all other software components
  • Escalates complex or consequential issues to management
  • Identifies and directs changes through appropriate review and approval mechanisms
  • Understands and promotes the GM Financial policy on Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) to ensure ongoing adherence to all relevant compliance regulations that may govern the GM Financial business and complete all regulatory knowledge training where applicable in a timely fashion
  • Serves as a mentor to less experienced engineers
  • Support other workload automation users and teams in their use of the software
  • Supports batch optimization and reporting
  • Supports IT SOX Audit controls for batch jobs and access management
  • Works cross‑functionally to analyze and resolve batch problems
  • Provides direct support of batch processing including incident management and incident resolution through participation in on‑call rotation
  • Assists the System Engineer in a backup role

Responsibilities

The Global Workload Automation Delivery Engineer III, under the general direction of the Global Workload Automation Manager, will assist in the day‑to‑day tasks critical to the WLA team's success. This individual will become familiar with all compliance, regulatory and security requirements, adhering to all corporate policies and standards. This person needs to be very experienced in technology with good planning and coordination skills. They need to have knowledge of the system definitions and operation aspects of the automation software. An energetic, solution‑minded personality with drive, attention to details and excellent communication skills will be needed for success in this position. The Global Workload Automation Delivery Engineer helps support the optimization of workload automation tools used by GMF IT. They are responsible for the development and implementation of processes in the workload software. This individual will be responsible for attending project meetings to help drive workflow planning. They will act as mentors to less experienced engineers. They will assist other GMF IT teams in use of the software for their own departmental advantage. They will provide support to the system admin as needed. They will provide expert support in isolating faults and failures in time‑critical batch jobs and workflows. The individual in this position will support optimization of existing workloads, on‑boarding of new applications and aid in the execution and delivery of related IT Services.

Experience And Education
  • 4-6 years of workflow development and engineering experience with workflow automation tools required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred
