OpenAI is seeking a hands-on Network Infrastructure Engineer to design, deploy, activate, and operate the global WAN supporting OpenAI's compute footprint. You will own activation of circuits, work with fiber carriers and cloud providers, and troubleshoot issues across Layer 1–3 as the global backbone expands.

You will help design physical networks, automate workflows, and collaborate with data center and external service providers to ensure reliability at scale.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience deploying, activating, and troubleshooting WAN circuits with providers.
• Strong understanding of optical networking, Ethernet, TCP/IP, BGP, and Layer 2/3.
• Experience with data center networking and large-scale WAN environments.
• Ability to automate provisioning and troubleshooting workflows.

Responsabilités

• Design, deploy, and support WAN infrastructure across data centers and PoPs.
• Own end-to-end activation and turn-up of network circuits with providers.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues across physical and logical layers.
• Diagnose failures across carrier, cloud, and internal boundaries and drive resolution.
• Contribute to physical network design and connectivity planning.
• Build automation to streamline provisioning and operations.
