Job summary

Fairbanks Morse Defense is seeking a Controls Specialist for the Houston Service Center. The role involves installation, commissioning, and emergency service on engine controls, with frequent travel across the United States and globally.

You will maintain strong customer rapport and communicate with regional offices and managers. Ideal candidates have an engineering/control background, two or more years in electrical/motion controls, and a willingness to travel up to 75%.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate Degree in Automotive/Diesel/Power Generation with 4 years’ related experience, including 2 years electrical/motion controls.
• Four years’ experience in a related field (including 3 years electrical/motion controls).
• Must read and interpret mechanical/electrical diagrams and blueprints.
• Travel up to 75% (domestic and international) with weekend/evening/emergency travel as needed.
• Ability to pass background check and drug screen; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Installation, testing, and troubleshooting of control systems on engine lines.
• Plan and accomplish goals using experience and judgment.
• Diagnose problems and develop solutions for engines.
• Work independently on qualified engines.
• May perform shop duties such as machining, inspections, assembly, testing, and warehouse work.
