OpenAI is seeking an experienced attorney to lead its global trademark litigation and brand protection efforts in a hybrid San Francisco role. You will manage complex disputes, coordinate with outside counsel, and shape cross-functional strategies across Legal, Communications, Global Affairs, Marketing and Product.

The role requires 10+ years of leading trademark litigation at technology firms or major law firms and a JD with California bar. Relocation assistance is provided.

Qualifications

• Have 10+ years of leading complex trademark litigation and disputes, including responsibility for litigation strategy, case management, and resolution.
• Have personally developed and executed strategies for complex, high-stakes trademark litigation and disputes, including direct engagement with opposing counsel.
• Have experience developing global trademark portfolio strategies, including clearance, prosecution, enforcement, and brand protection.
• JD and a license to practice in California are required.

Responsabilités

• Lead global trademark litigation and disputes from initial assessment through resolution.
• Develop and execute global trademark litigation and enforcement strategies, including managing outside counsel and advising senior leadership.
• Lead and develop OpenAI’s trademark team, overseeing clearance, prosecution, portfolio management, enforcement, dispute resolution, and brand protection.
• Stay current on laws, regulations, and industry trends, and provide updates to leadership and stakeholders.
• Build scalable processes for trademark risk assessment, enforcement prioritization, and outside counsel management.
• Provide practical, strategic guidance to senior leadership balancing legal risk and business priorities.
