Job summary

R+L Global Logistics is seeking a Customs Consulting & Compliance Specialist to promote our customs brokerage services and engage potential clients. You will interface with executives to operational staff, build relationships, and present tailored solutions while meeting consulting deliverables.

The role requires deep regulatory knowledge, analytical skills, and strong business communication. You will schedule consultations with our Compliance Manager, stay current on CBP and PGA programs, and

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor Degree in International Business/Trade, Supply Chain Management, or other relevant academic discipline and/or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Must possess and maintain a CCS certification and/or US Customs Broker license or have the ability to obtain either within 1 year of employment.
5+ years of experience in customs consultancy, import/export operations and compliance or related field.
Experience using Video Conferencing platforms such as WebEx or Zoom.
Experience using Cargowise Customs & Compliance software a plus.
In-depth knowledge of customs brokerage operations, U.S. Customs regulations, trade procedures, filing customs entries, tariff classifications, valuations, and PGA requirements.
Proficiency with researching data from internal systems, government databases and industry publications.
Ability to communicate complex concepts effectively to diverse audiences and tailor to the audience.

Responsibilities

Promote AFC International customs and trade consulting services to potential clients.
Identify and reach out to potential clients via phone, email, and social media.
Build and maintain strong client relationships and understand their needs for tailored solutions.
Communicate benefits and competitive advantages of customs brokerage services to clients.
Consult with new importers on U.S. Customs and PGA regulations.
Provide U.S. Customs Clearance guidance in response to inquiries.
Schedule appointments for prospects to meet with the Customs Consulting & Compliance Manager.
Stay updated with trends, regulations, CBP or PGA programs.
Maintain regular attendance as essential for workflow and productivity.
Perform other related duties as needed to meet organizational needs.
