Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. is seeking a Classification Specialist to determine trade compliance requirements and maintain product classifications across HTS, ECN/ECCN and related government designations. You will collaborate with CIT and other groups to ensure standards are met.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of experience, with familiarity in SAP GTS or One Source and strong communication and analytical skills. Hybrid work and competitive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; scientific background preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of working experience
• Ability to work with global trade management systems like SAP GTS or One Source
• Prior tariff classification expertise preferred

Responsibilities

• Classify items (chemicals, biologics, lab and ancillary supplies, finished drugs, equipment, etc.) with accurate HTS, ECN/ECCN, and other govt. classifications.
• Communicate with requestors to obtain information for correct classification.
• Research classification rulings and court decisions to facilitate classifications.
• Provide background information to obtain classification rulings as required.
• Maintain classifications in SAP GTS, One Source and other databases.
