The Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMPT) manufacturing business is seeking a Global Technology Guardian (GTG) at their site in Newark, Delaware. The CMP business is a world‑leader in producing pads that are used in the polishing of semi‑conductor wafers for making memory and logic chips used in all electronics, computers etc. The AI and data center boom that our major customers - TSMC, Samsung, Intel, Micron, etc are experiencing has skyrocketed the demand for CMP pads across Qnity’s global manufacturing sites in the US and Asia. The CMP pad‑manufacturing technology consists of Polymer manufacturing, Casting, and several mechanical converting operations such as Skiving, Grooving, Buffing and Finishing.
The GTG is a critical influence leadership role that covers the mechanical converting modules which include Pad Skivers, Lathes doing various groove types, digital Pad trimmers, Automated Pad cleaners, in‑line and offline metrologies for QC etc.
The GTG role is meant to serve as the brain trust of the manufacturing technology used in the mechanical converting operations. This role will be responsible for defining the Most Effective Technology (MET) and owns the multi‑year technology roadmap for the Conversions operations. The GTG also sets the vision for future manufacturing technology including Automation of Process Equipment and next‑gen process technologies. Globally, there are 15-20 MT and Run Plant Engineers who support Conversions modules across our sites. This role leads that network of Engineers globally and guides their activities on various improvement and development projects including Quality, Site‑matching, MET Leveraging, Basic Data and execution of new Capital projects, etc.
This role will interface most closely with Manufacturing and Technology leadership to define, resource and drive programs. Due to the intense customer and quality focus in the semi‑conductor space, this role routinely interfaces with other functions such as Product Quality and Marketing to align on technology roadmap, customer communications, qualifications, etc. The CMP business is embarking on several new product development efforts to support advanced node chips, this role interfaces with R&D and scaleup teams to bring new technologies into High Volume Manufacturing (HVM).
This role reports directly to the Director, Manufacturing Technology.
