Job summary

Dow is seeking an Expert Tax Counsel to join its Tax Department, serving as a versatile legal and business adviser across tax planning, M&A, audit defense, and tax controversy. The role reports to the Managing Counsel for Global Tax and can be located in Midland, MI, Houston, TX, or a virtual office in Chicago/Detroit.

The ideal candidate will have a JD or LL.M. in Taxation with at least 5 years of substantive tax experience, bar admission, and the ability to work in the United States without

Qualifications

• J.D. is required for this U.S.-based role.
• Bar admission or eligibility is required.
• Minimum 5 years of substantive tax legal experience.
• Must be able to work legally in the United States; no visa sponsorship provided.

Responsibilities

• M&A and Tax Planning Advisory: support tax structuring, due diligence, and post‑closing matters.
• Tax Controversy and Audit Defense: lead and support audit defense and related matters.
• Contract Review & Commercial Advisory: review tax provisions in commercial agreements and intercompany arrangements.
• Tax Legal Research & Memoranda: conduct research and draft memoranda supporting tax positions.
• Credits & Incentives: analyze and document eligible tax credits and incentives.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: partner with Tax Operations, Accounting, Legal, M&A, and Finance across the enterprise.
