Job summary

PayPal is seeking an experienced in-house tax attorney to ensure overall compliance with information reporting and withholding tax rules (including FATCA, CRS, CARF and 1099) across global products. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional partners to evaluate new products and modify policies as needed.

The role requires 5+ years of tax experience and a JD with admission to practice law.

Qualifications

• 5+ years relevant tax experience.
• Admission to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.
• Ability to independently manage significant tax matters.

Responsibilities

• Independently advises on complex tax issues affecting business operations, transactions, and strategic initiatives.
• Develops and documents technical tax analyses for planning, reporting, audits, and compliance.
• Partners with business units and Finance to structure initiatives in a tax-efficient manner.
• Identifies tax risk exposures and recommends mitigation aligned with PayPal’s risk tolerance.
• Coordinates with outside advisors and manages external engagements.
• Mentor junior attorneys and contribute to knowledge development within the tax function.
