Job summary

AssetWatch seeks a Senior Tax Manager to establish and lead the tax and compliance function as we scale globally. This is an individual contributor role located in the United States, coordinating with external advisors to ensure compliance and support international growth.

The position focuses on U.S. federal/state/local tax, indirect tax, and cross-border obligations across the US and Canada, with future expansion in mind. Remote-friendly, with equity and benefits discussed during interview.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related field required.
• 7–10+ years of progressive tax and compliance experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local tax compliance.
• Experience coordinating tax across multiple jurisdictions.
• Experience managing relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, regulators.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Ability to operate independently and advise senior leadership.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Own and oversee U.S. federal, state, and local tax compliance activities.
• Manage sales and use tax compliance, registrations, filings, and reporting.
• Oversee tax compliance for the Canadian subsidiary with external advisors.
• Manage indirect tax compliance (VAT, GST/HST, PST) and other international obligations.
• Coordinate tax provision support and annual tax filings with external firms.
• Monitor nexus exposure and compliance across jurisdictions.
• Manage tax notices, audits, inquiries, and regulatory examinations.
• Develop and maintain tax compliance calendars and governance processes.
• Drive process improvement and automation in tax/compliance activities.
• Lead cross-functional coordination on tax implications of business initiatives.
