Leonid Group have been retained by an international medical device organization who are seeking a Global Sustainability Data & Digital Solutions Manager to lead the development of its global sustainability data strategy, governance framework and digital capabilities.
This is a newly evolving area of the organization's sustainability transformation, with the role responsible for ensuring that sustainability and product stewardship data is accurate, traceable, accessible and fit for purpose across global operations.
The position will sit at the intersection of Sustainability, Data, Digital Transformation, Product Stewardship, Regulatory Compliance and Enterprise Systems, helping the organization build scalable solutions that can support increasingly complex regulatory, customer and reporting requirements.
The successful candidate will act as a key business owner for sustainability data and digital solutions, partnering closely with IT, Supply Chain, Procurement, Product, Quality, Regulatory and Commercial teams to improve data governance, automate processes and develop effective reporting capabilities.
This role would suit an experienced professional who combines strong knowledge of sustainability or product stewardship with expertise in data governance, enterprise systems, analytics and digital transformation.
Key Responsibilities
Sustainability Data Strategy & Governance
- Develop and implement a global strategy for sustainability, product stewardship and regulatory data.
- Establish clear data governance standards, ownership structures, stewardship processes and quality controls.
- Define data requirements across products, packaging, materials, suppliers and relevant regulatory attributes.
- Develop scalable data frameworks capable of supporting changing global sustainability and regulatory requirements.
- Establish data quality KPIs and drive continuous improvement across sustainability-related datasets.
- Create clear accountability for data ownership across relevant business functions.
Digital Solutions & Systems Leadership
- Act as the business lead for sustainability and product stewardship digital platforms and technology solutions.
- Define system roadmaps, priorities and future capabilities in line with evolving business and regulatory requirements.
- Translate business needs into clear system requirements and partner with IT teams throughout implementation, testing and deployment.
- Identify opportunities to digitise and automate manual sustainability processes.
- Evaluate new technologies and solutions that can improve data collection, compliance, reporting and operational efficiency.
- Ensure sustainability systems are scalable and capable of supporting a growing global organization.
- Act as a key interface between Sustainability, Product Stewardship, Data and IT functions.
- Partner with ERP, enterprise applications and digital transformation teams to embed sustainability capabilities within existing systems.
- Identify opportunities to integrate sustainability data into broader business processes and technology infrastructure.
- Leverage existing enterprise platforms to develop dashboards, workflows, reporting tools and internal applications.
- Define data models, business requirements and system specifications for sustainability initiatives.
- Lead process mapping, system integration and digital transformation projects related to sustainability and product stewardship.
Data Quality & Integrity
- Establish robust standards for sustainability data quality, validation and governance.
- Monitor data for accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness and traceability.
- Investigate data quality issues and coordinate corrective actions with relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure sustainability and product stewardship data is sufficiently robust to support regulatory, customer and certification requirements.
- Develop appropriate controls and documentation to ensure information remains audit-ready and defensible.
- Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and reliability of data collection processes.
Sustainability Reporting & Analytics
- Develop frameworks and processes supporting global sustainability reporting.
- Build and maintain dashboards, KPIs and reporting tools for senior leadership and business stakeholders.
- Lead analytics across areas such as product stewardship, packaging sustainability, supplier performance and broader sustainability metrics.
- Analyse complex datasets to identify trends, risks, opportunities and areas for improvement.
- Translate data into clear business insights and executive-level reporting.
- Support the development of reliable reporting infrastructure as sustainability disclosure requirements continue to evolve.
Supplier & Value Chain Data
- Develop frameworks for collecting, validating and managing sustainability information from suppliers.
- Define data requirements relating to regulatory compliance, product stewardship and sustainability reporting.
- Work with Procurement and Supply Chain teams to improve supplier data quality and completeness.
- Identify data gaps across the value chain and develop processes to address them.
- Support improvements in supplier sustainability data and performance over time.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Lead global projects involving Sustainability, Quality, Regulatory, R&D, Supply Chain, Procurement, Operations, Commercial and IT teams.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for sustainability data governance, digital solutions and reporting.
- Build strong relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple regions.
- Develop governance documentation, processes and training materials.
- Promote a culture of data ownership, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Influence stakeholders across a matrix organization without relying on direct reporting authority.

- Bachelor's degree or higher in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Chemistry, Materials Science, Business Information Systems or a related discipline.
- Significant professional experience across data governance, enterprise systems, business analytics, sustainability, product stewardship, regulatory compliance or related areas.
- Experience working within a global, complex or matrixed organization.
- Proven experience developing or implementing data governance frameworks, digital solutions or enterprise reporting capabilities.
- Strong understanding of how data, systems and business processes interact.
- Experience managing cross-functional projects and influencing stakeholders across multiple business functions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following would be highly advantageous:
Additional experience with enterprise systems, databases, business intelligence and analytics platforms would be beneficial, particularly where these have been used to support sustainability, compliance or product stewardship programs.
Experience with systems such as ERP, SAP, PLM, Power BI or comparable enterprise data and reporting platforms would be advantageous.
Knowledge of sustainability and product stewardship regulations and frameworks such as REACH, RoHS, SCIP, PFAS, POPs, PPWR, ESPR, EPR and CSRD would be valuable.
Relevant professional qualifications in data governance, sustainability, project management, analytics or enterprise systems would also be welcomed.

Travel
International travel may be required, expected to be less than 20% of working time.
