Job summary

BorgWarner is seeking a Commodity Intern in MS to support Global Commodity and Global Advance Purchasing functions. The role requires independent work, strong program and time management, and data-driven storytelling to drive solutions.

You will interact with reporting units, cross-functional teams, and supplier representatives, requiring policy understanding and strong communication. This is a student-friendly, on-site internship in Auburn Hills, MI.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work 20-30 hours per week.
• Pursuing a Business, Supply Chain or Engineering degree focus.
• Freshman, Sophomore or Junior year students preferred.
• Previous experience in purchasing and supply chain in automotive is a plus.
• Detail oriented with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Proficient in MS Office and data analytics tools.
• Ability to travel at least 5% of time.

Responsibilities

• Initiate, recommend or provide solutions for projects or programs.
• Track, manage projects and provide analytical analysis for responsible projects.
• Submit RFIs on select projects and track suppliers’ feedback.
• Assist with and/or co-lead special projects related to continuous improvement within the assigned parts/segment.
• Market test to identify suppliers for resourcing activities.
• Conduct preliminary vetting of suppliers (contact information, questionnaire, NDA's, etc.).
• Cost breakdown analysis between different suppliers for negotiation.
• Benchmark information, updates & summaries for best-practice/lessons-learned.
• Support and execute activities under relevant commodities, ensuring business alignment.
• Responsible for completion of other Global Commodity related assignments, as required.
