Job summary

Saginaw Valley State University is seeking a Study Abroad Coordinator to oversee the administration and continuous improvement of the university’s study abroad programs. You will advise students, faculty, and families, coordinate pre-departure activities, and manage partnerships with academic departments and external partners.

The role requires collaboration with campus offices, marketing and recruitment efforts, and maintenance of the Terra Dotta system.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in study abroad or international education.
• Experience coordinating programs or student services.
• Experience living or traveling internationally.
• Effective public speaking and presentation skills.
• Budget management and financial reconciliation experience.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Available for evenings and weekends.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Advise students and families on study abroad opportunities and requirements.
• Coordinate pre-departure orientation and credit transfer.
• Collaborate with Registrar, Financial Services, and other campus partners.
• Develop marketing and recruitment initiatives.
• Maintain Terra Dotta system and participant records.
• Work with SAAC to update policies and procedures.
• Coordinate administration of scholarships and award processing.
• Monitor budgets and student billing for programs.
• Support faculty-led programs and risk management planning.
• Engage with international partners and program providers.
• Prepare institutional reports and analyze participation data.
• Develop student engagement initiatives like Study Abroad Ambassador Program.
