Job summary

CIEE is seeking Program Leaders to mentor and supervise high school students on summer study abroad programs. This full-time, residential leadership role requires 24/7 availability throughout the program, overseeing safety, well-being, accountability, and the student experience from arrival to departure.

Typically one PL oversees 10–12 students; you will chaperone group travel with local staff and instructors, develop leadership skills, and help students become more confident, independent, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Must be 21+ years of age or older.
• Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.
• Visa and entry requirements must be met for locations.
• Valid passport through February 2028.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
• Must pass background check.
• CPR/First Aid certification required.
• Advanced-Low or higher proficiency in the host country language (ACTFL).

Responsibilities

• Support and mentor students with academic, social, emotional, and behavioral support.
• Monitor student well-being and safety per CIEE protocols.
• Supervise students and activities, including excursions, travel, and daily operations.
• Build an inclusive, culturally responsive community and facilitate reflection and experiential learning.
• Communicate and collaborate with students, families, instructors, local staff, other Program Leaders, and CIEE colleagues.
• Maintain 24/7 availability and respond calmly and professionally when challenges arise.
