Job summary

Garmin Ltd. in Miramar, FL is seeking a full-time Buyer 2 to manage the semi-complex procurement of assigned commodities and drive supplier performance on Quality, Cost, Delivery and Service (QCDS).

The role requires developing supplier partnerships, negotiating RFPs, planning and executing purchases to ensure on-time delivery, and monitoring inventory to maximize turns while minimizing obsolescence. Collaboration with Engineering, Quality and Marketing is essential for new product development

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Strong verbal, written, negotiating and analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Motivated self-starter with ethical standards.
  • Knowledge of MRPII/MPS processes and supplier capability assessments.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Manage supplier development in areas of supplier partnering agreements and QCDS.
  • Develop and negotiate information requests and proposals (RFPs).
  • Plan, order and deliver components, products and services to ensure on-time delivery across the organization.
  • Monitor inventory levels to maximize turns and minimize obsolescence.
  • Contribute to process improvements and new product introductions.
  • Support ISO9000/QS9000 training and department procedures.

Job description

Overview

We are seeking a full-time Buyer 2 at Garmin's office in Miramar Florida. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the semi-complex acquisition of assigned commodities and products and also must drive performance to meet world-class levels in supplier Quality, Cost, Delivery and Service, (QCDS).

Essential Functions
  • Manage supplier development in the areas of supplier partnering agreements and QCDS
  • Develop and negotiate Request for information (RFP) proposal
  • Manage the planning, ordering and delivery of all components, products and services to ensure on-time delivery across all levels of the organization
  • Closely monitor inventory levels of assigned commodities and products to maximize inventory turns and minimize exposure to obsolescence
  • Demonstrate significant contribution to process, product and new product introduction
  • Review, analyze, develop and negotiate while suggesting improvements on multiple procurement contracts in support of Garmin's master Production Schedule (MPS)
  • Prepare cost price analysis for various supplier partnering agreements and projects
  • Drive and develop a supply chain strategy
  • Review/compile inventory costing records such as Purchase
  • Price Variance (PPV), scrap and rework costs and then review/drive improvements with leadership/other groups
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Quality, and Marketing to develop new sources of supply in support of new product development
  • Demonstrate and supply an understanding of department processes/procedures, work instructions and training requirements for the Purchasing Department in support of ISO9000/QS9000
  • Demonstrate continued improvement to ensure departmental goals and metrics are met or exceeded with improvements to bottom line
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Must demonstrate strong verbal, written, negotiating and analytical skills
  • Must demonstrate a proven track record of the ability to prioritize, organize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment to effectively meet deadlines
  • Must be a motivated self starter
  • Must have a demonstrated high level of interpersonal and communication skills to work across functional and organizational lines with uncompromising ethics
  • Must possess demonstrated knowledgeable of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRPII)/Master Production Schedule (MPS) process
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing requirements and ability to asses supplier capabilities
  • Demonstrated proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Management, Operations or Material preferred or equivalent experience
  • Certified in Production & Inventory Management (CPIM) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM)
  • Previous experience in a electronics manufacturing or repair purchasing
