Job summary

Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area is seeking a full-time Strategic Supply Chain Intern to support manufacturing and distribution operations, including process design, documentation, and cost/benefit analysis of projects.

The role provides exposure to inbound escalations, RFQ support, supplier risk assessment, contract negotiations, and quarterly business reviews. You will report results to management and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and cost savings.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in relevant fields such as Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, or Engineering.
• GPA generally 3.0 or higher.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Provide inbound Supply Chain escalations support to avoid production lines down and customer impacts.
• Identify Risk Suppliers/GPNs and negotiate possible solutions.
• Support Customer RFQs and Supplier RFQs.
• Support New Product Introduction Sourcing.
• Participate in contract negotiations and cost-saving initiatives.
• Help identify cost savings opportunities and participate in QBRs (lead one).
• Report results to management.

Overview

We are seeking a full-time Strategic Supply Chain Intern at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for performing aspects of manufacturing and distribution operations activities regarding production, warehousing, and global product distribution. Responsibilities for this role include process design/improvement, process documentation and checklist, cost/benefit analysis of projects, and reporting results to management.

Essential Functions

• Provide inbound Supply Chain escalations support to avoid production lines down and customer impacts
• Identify Risk Suppliers/GPNs and negotiate possible solutions
• Support Customer RFQs ("Request for Quotes")
• Support Supplier RFQs
• Support New Product Introduction Sourcing
• Participate in contract negotiations
• Help identify cost savings opportunities
• Participate in a Quarterly Business Review (“QBR”) and lead one QBR

Basic Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Operations, Supply Chain Management, Program Management, Finance, Business Administration, Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) or other related field
• Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
• Proficient using MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Superior organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality

Desired Qualifications

• Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
• Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehousing, or distribution operations
• Fluent in statistical analysis
