Job summary

ZEISS Group is seeking a Strategic Buyer / Category Manager based in Dublin, CA. You will drive strategic category management across multiple regions, manage supplier selection and performance, and lead complex negotiations to secure quality, delivery, and cost goals.

You will develop cost models, ensure SAP data integrity, and partner with procurement, NPI, manufacturing, and quality teams to drive continuous improvement and supplier collaboration.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in purchasing in technical categories (e.g., metals, plastics, machined parts).
• Strong technical understanding of high-technology components and systems.
• Analytical and financial capability to assess suppliers and total cost of ownership.
• Strong negotiation skills and knowledge of contracts and commercial law.
• Proven project-management and continuous-improvement experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement cross-site category strategies for multiple regions.
• Manage supplier selection, qualification, performance, and risk mitigation.
• Lead negotiations and resolve supplier discrepancies on quality, cost, and service.
• Develop cost-driver and total-cost models; achieve savings targets.
• Maintain SAP data and collaborate with procurement, manufacturing, and QA teams.
