Job summary

Ipas seeks a Senior Medical Scientist to advance safe abortion, contraception, and GBV care quality through clinical expertise and strategic partnerships. The role supports global initiatives, disseminates evidence via publications and presentations, and builds external relationships to maximize impact.

The position emphasizes technical leadership, training of partners, and collaboration across teams to improve care quality in diverse settings, including crisis contexts, with travel up to 20%

Qualifications

• Advanced clinical degree required and 10+ years in clinical practice including reproductive health.
• Experience applying scientific clinical information to training and programs.
• Experience with international reproductive health programs in low-resource or humanitarian settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to develop and test innovative approaches to improve abortion and contraception care and integrate into SRHR programming.
• Develop technical tools and resources translating evidence updates into health services.
• Provides technical leadership on quality and regulatory processes for the Ipas MVA product line and infection prevention.
• Supports training of Ipas supported sites and partners on content such as VCAT, clinical management of abortion and contraception care, trauma-informed care, etc.
• Leads and/or participates in clinical/technical research and dissemination for abortion/contraception practice improvement.
• Prepare and/or analyze service delivery data and issue clinical recommendations for quality improvement across pathways to care.
• Contributes to donor proposals and review of donor reports
• Provides external leadership and advocacy at conferences and events.
