Job summary

GM is seeking a seasoned Purchasing professional to lead sourcing strategies, supplier engagement, and data-driven decision making within our US operations.

You will manage RFQ processes, budget alignment, and cross-functional collaboration to mitigate supply disruptions while upholding GM Audit Services standards and contracts.

Strong analytical capability, negotiation skills, and familiarity with SAP are required, with willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of work experience in purchasing, supply chain, or related fields.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
• SAP experience or ability to learn purchasing systems.
• Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
• Automotive industry experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Capacity and Materials Management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain sourcing pipeline, benchmarking data, strategy presentations, global budget, and on-time metrics.
• Develop and manage sourcing strategies and bid lists.
• Analyze and review quotes.
• Coordinate RFQ package components, including Terms & Conditions, SOR compliance, technical documentation, and quality alignment.
• Lead sourcing recommendations and alignment with cross-functional teams.
• Manage sourcing documentation related to the RFQ process per GM Audit Services requirements.
• Support direct material budget activities.
• Lead or support supplier relationship management initiatives, including Strategic Supplier Engagement.
• Nurture supplier relationships and act as focal point for commercial issue resolution.
• Perform change management activities and represent purchasing in supplier KPI reviews.
• Assist in mitigating supply chain disruptions and promote GM behaviors and values.

• Adhere to corporate and departmental purchasing and accounting practices and procedures
• Develop and manage sourcing strategies and bid lists
• Analyze and review quotes
• Coordinate and align RFQ package components, including Terms & Conditions, SOR compliance, technical documentation, and quality alignment
• Lead sourcing recommendations and alignment with cross-functional teams
• Manage sourcing documentation related to the RFQ process in accordance with GM Audit Services requirements
• Support direct material budget activities
• Lead or support supplier relationship management initiatives, including Strategic Supplier Engagement
• Act as a focal point for commercial issue resolution and nurture supplier relationships
• Perform change management activities

Requirements

• 2+ years of relevant work experience in purchasing, supply chain, program/product management, logistics, finance, account management, business development, or product development; internships and co-op experience are not considered
• Ability to execute with direction or support in data judgment, informative communication, and relationship management
• Emerging ability and willingness to learn and apply negotiation, analytical thinking, results focus, and workload management
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally
• SAP experience or ability to learn purchasing systems
• Ability to work in the United States without current or future GM immigration sponsorship
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or related field preferred
• Experience with commodities preferred
• Cost analysis or manufacturing experience preferred
• Automotive industry experience preferred
• Knowledge of Capacity and Materials Management preferred
• Ability to draw conclusions from complex data, market trends, and the regulatory environment preferred
• Ability to understand basic engineering documents and technical drivers for applicable commodities preferred
• Knowledge of contract law as it applies to purchasing processes preferred
