Job summary

Teradyne in the United States (Illinois) seeks a Director of Software Engineering to lead the Power Test Division’s global software organization and drive the software roadmap, architecture, and quality across multiple sites.

You will unite teams in Deer Park, Costa Rica, India, Geneva, and Regensburg, mentor managers, improve delivery predictability, and accelerate platform reuse while partnering with hardware and product leadership to deliver credible commitments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Track record of leading software organizations and delivering complex software on schedules in hardware-software environments.
• Demonstrated expertise in architecture, code quality, automated testing, CI/CD, and release management.
• Experience working with hardware and systems engineering leaders and engaging with customers.

Responsibilities

• Lead a globally distributed software organization through managers, staffing, skills development, and retention.
• Develop and execute the PTD software roadmap, staffing plans, and delivery baselines.
• Collaborate with Product Architecture and engineering partners to define software direction and mitigate risks.
• Build a strong Software QA function and improve quality and reduce technical debt.
• Partner with customers and cross-functional leaders on software capability and platform strategy.
• Mentor managers and engineers to create a unified, cross-segment organization.
• Drive AI-assisted development tooling adoption and measurable productivity gains.
• Ensure commitments are delivered with improved delivery predictability.
