Job summary

OSI Engineering, Inc. is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Design Engineer – Softgoods to support development, validation, and production ramp-up of softgoods products and accessories in a high-volume setting.

You will partner with contract manufacturers, lead experiments, and assess fabrication technologies to ensure design feasibility and scalable production. Travel to supplier sites, including Asia, will be required to drive program targets and supplier readiness.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Manufacturing/Process Engineering, preferably in a high-volume environment.
• Experience supporting new product launches from a mechanical, tooling, or product development perspective.
• Experience with mechanical fabricated parts or adhesives, glues, jigs, fixtures, tooling, injection molding, plastics experience.

Responsibilities

• Partner with multi-functional teams and contract manufacturers to evaluate design and processes at the concept and ramp phases.
• Plan, propose, and lead experiments to produce analyses for design, development, and supply chain decisions.
• Assess fabrication technology suitability and plan validation exercises to demonstrate feasibility and manufacturing capability.
• Evaluate and identify process opportunities/risks and review development activities at supplier locations.
• Serve as lead engineer to drive process development and data gathering.
• Establish validation procedures for tooling acceptance into development and mass production builds.
• Review supplier tool design, process flow, equipment selection, DFM, and DOE proposals and provide corrective actions.
• Work with supplier engineering teams to map process development exercises and secure resources.
• Assess supplier readiness for build events and production ramp; provide recommendations.
