Job summary

Sycomp seeks a Senior Security Engineer to lead the day-to-day security function for a global workforce. You will own the SIEM, EDR, incident response, and vulnerability programs, coordinating with MSSPs and internal teams across regions.

The role is remote within the United States, with up to 10% travel, reporting to the CISO. Compensation ranges from $130,000 to $150,000 annually, depending on experience and location.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, computer science, information systems, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of hands-on information security experience, including 2 years leading a security team or program.
• Deep hands-on experience administering and tuning a SIEM such as Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, QRadar, or similar.
• Hands-on experience with EDR/XDR platforms like CrowdStrike Falcon or Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.
• Proven incident response experience for real-world security incidents, including ransomware and phishing.
• Experience planning penetration tests and managing vulnerability programs with Tenable/Qualys/Rapid7.
• Experience writing security policies aligned with NIST CSF / ISO 27001 / CIS Controls.
• Strong networking, Windows/Linux, AD/Entra ID, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, M365).
• Clear communication to executives and stakeholders.
• Ability to work across time zones and participate in on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day security function and coordinate with MSSPs and vendors.
• Own SIEM and SOC tooling, including SOAR, case management, and playbooks.
• Oversee 24x7 monitoring across time zones in a hybrid model.
• Develop detection content mapped to MITRE and reduce false positives.
• Direct incident response from detection through containment and recovery.
• Plan tabletop exercises and support regulatory reporting.
