Job summary

Citi is seeking a Managing Director to lead Global Sanctions Operations from our New York HQ. This senior role drives end-to-end sanctions screening, investigations, and interdiction processing across geographies.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years leadership experience in Sanctions, Financial Crimes, AML, Compliance Operations, or related fields.
  • Significant experience leading large-scale global operations within complex financial institutions.
  • Deep knowledge of global sanctions regulations (OFAC, UN, EU, UK, etc.).
  • Experience managing sanctions screening, investigations, interdiction processing, and related operations.
  • Strong knowledge of screening technologies, watchlist management, and case management platforms.
  • Proven track record leading transformation, automation, digitization and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Experience with AI, advanced analytics, and workflow technologies to improve risk outcomes.
  • Regulatory engagement and governance experience with regulators and auditors.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication for senior executives.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in highly regulated, global, matrixed organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the global Sanctions Operations organization delivering operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and strong client outcomes.
  • Define and execute the strategic vision for Sanctions Operations aligned with risk and regulatory objectives.
  • Drive transformation initiatives to improve effectiveness, scalability, resilience, and service quality.
  • Modernize operations through automation, AI, analytics, digitization, and workflow optimization.
  • Establish governance, metrics, and cross-functional partnerships to deliver enterprise objectives.
  • Maintain end-to-end accountability for sanctions screening, investigations, and related operations globally.
  • Ensure effective sanctions controls across payments, onboarding, and transaction flows.
  • Partner with Compliance, Risk, Legal, Audit to implement sanctions policies and standards.
  • Promote governance consistency and risk management practices across regions and businesses.
  • Lead and develop a global leadership team with a focus on accountability and talent development.
