Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ltd. in Houston, Texas, seeks a Global Head of R&D for EPM to shape the product development strategy and ensure delivery of high-quality software solutions in close partnership with the General Manager, Product Manager Lead, and PMO Lead.

Qualifications

• 20+ years of leadership experience in product development, software development, or software product delivery.
• MBA or other advanced degree strongly preferred.
• Strong R&D leadership experience with globally distributed teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience engaging directly with customers as technology lead for escalations and opportunities.
• Proven track record of leading diverse engineering teams.
• Strong strategic thinking and decision-making abilities.
• Experience managing budgets, resources, and development portfolios.
• Willingness to travel globally.
• Experience working in a global, matrixed organization.
• Strong understanding of current software development trends and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the global R&D Product Group (software engineering, testing, delivery).
• Partner with the GM, Product Manager Lead, and PMO Lead to deliver high-quality products.
• Lead a global R&D organization of ~150 professionals, fostering innovation and collaboration.
• Develop and execute R&D strategies aligned with Hitachi Energy's 2030 vision.
• Act as the primary technology contact for customer escalations and strategic opportunities.
• Drive cross-functional communication across all levels.
• Lead development of new products and enhancements across the portfolio.
• Manage budgets, resources, and project priorities to achieve goals and timelines.
• Represent Hitachi Energy at industry events and customer engagements as a technology leader.
