Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ltd. is seeking a Global Head of R&D for EPM to shape product development strategy and ensure delivery of high-quality software solutions. You will lead a global R&D organization, coordinating with the GM, PM Lead, and PMO Lead to align technology with business goals.

You will drive product evolution, support customer success, and contribute to Hitachi Energy's long-term growth. This role requires strategic thinking, strong leadership, and global collaboration.

Qualifications

• 20+ years of leadership in product development, software development, or software product delivery.
• MBA or advanced degree preferred.
• Strong R&D leadership with globally distributed teams.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
• Experience engaging with customers and serving as tech contact for escalations.
• Proven success in leading diverse engineering teams and portfolios.
• Strategic thinking, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Willingness to travel globally.
• Experience in global, matrixed organizations.
• Strong understanding of trends and best practices in software product development.

Responsibilities

• Lead the global R&D Product Group, including software engineering, testing and delivery.
• Partner with GM, Product Manager Lead, and PMO Lead to deliver high-quality products.
• Lead a global R&D organization of ~150 professionals with focus on innovation and collaboration.
• Develop and execute R&D strategies aligned with the 2030 vision and growth objectives.
• Act as the primary technology contact for customer escalations and strategic opportunities.
• Drive cross-functional communication across all levels of the organization.
• Lead development of new products and enhancements across the portfolio.
• Ensure effective management of budgets, resources and project priorities.
• Represent the company at industry events and customer engagements as a technology leader.
