Non-Profit Global Program Operations Associate

Location: San Francisco, hybrid (2 days/week in office)

The Opportunity

As the Global Program Operations Associate, you’ll play a key part in supporting our literacy and gender equality programs through organizational planning, program operations project management, performance reporting, and cross-departmental collaboration. We conduct our programs in countries around the world, where we work with children in communities experiencing deep educational, gender and economic inequities.

This role is based in San Francisco and reports to the Director of Program Operations.

What You’ll Do

Planning & Budgeting

  • Support the development and review of annual operating plans and budgets across Room to Read’s country programs.
  • Track key deliverables, coordinate input and feedback from global offices, and support adherence to timelines and milestones.
  • Prepare planning tools, templates, and materials for review processes.
  • Assist in budget data analysis and summarization for leadership review and decision-making.
  • Ensure clear and timely communication of planning progress to stakeholders.

Reporting & Data Analysis

  • Collect and synthesize regional program reports and global implementation data.
  • Analyze financial and non-financial data to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities at the regional and global level.
  • Facilitate cross-departmental sharing of insights and reporting outputs.

Cross-Departmental Collaboration

  • Partner with Global Finance, HR, and Development teams to align programmatic and operational planning.
  • Support improvements to our budget structure and portfolio strategy.
  • Work closely with the Results Database Manager to ensure programmatic data aligns with country plans and global indicators.

Systems, Tools & Processes

  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase operational efficiency.
  • Maintain internal department resources and ensure consistency and accuracy of shared information.
  • Manage or support special projects such as conference planning and internal process rollouts.

In Your First 3 to 6 Months, You’ll

  • Under direction from supervisor, provide support to the budgeting process by preparing tools and templates, tracking deliverables, assisting in coordination of the review process, and assisting with budget data analysis.
  • Collect and distribute internal reporting submissions on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Manage forecasting process in GSD in partnership with Program Ops Associate manager

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3 years of relevant experience in a fast-paced, global organization
  • Demonstrated project management experience with multi-stage initiatives
  • Strong data collection, analysis, and reporting skills
  • Proven ability to develop and improve processes and systems
  • Comfortable communicating across diverse teams and cultures
  • Experience working with databases; Salesforce experience a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally

Preferred

  • Experience in or understanding of international non-profits, especially in education
  • Familiarity with Asian and African cultures
  • Quick to adopt and learn new tech platforms and tools

We Offer

Compensation: The salary range for this role is $63,038 to $71,000. Compensation may vary depending on several factors including, but not limited to, experience, skill set, and relevant education or certifications.
