Job summary

Perplexity is seeking a Payroll Analyst to partner with the Payroll Manager and ensure accurate, compliant US and international payroll. This hands-on role covers end-to-end processing, audits, and equity/benefits payroll management while partnering with People Ops, Accounting, Tax, and Equity.

You will own day-to-day processing and collaborate on complex compliance, with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and timely pay. Strong Excel/Sheets and systems experience are essential.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on payroll experience including multi-state US payroll.
• Experience establishing US state agency accounts and handling related invoices.
• Strong knowledge of California wage statement requirements and CA compliance.
• Hands-on with modern payroll/HRIS platforms (Rippling preferred).
• Excellent reconciliation skills across deductions, 401(k), and payroll-to-GL.
• Knowledge of US payroll tax (SUI, SIT, federal/state withholding).
• Familiarity with equity compensation payroll (RSU/NSO/ISO) is a plus.
• Clear communicator with cross-functional partners and employees.

Responsibilities

• US and international payroll processing: support US multi-state semi-monthly payroll and assist international payroll across ~16 countries (Rippling).
• Run monthly global contractor payroll including timecard tracking and contractor payments.
• Perform pre- and post-payroll audits for deductions and employer matches.
• Support state tax accounts and migration of legacy accounts as the company expands.
• Assist with 401(k) and benefits administration, testing, and COBRA notices.
• Support equity payroll reporting and correct tax treatments for NSO/ISO.
