Job summary

SVSU Saginaw Valley State University seeks an International Partnership Coordinator to develop and sustain global partnerships, support inbound exchange students, and coordinate cross-border programs. The role reports to the Director of the Office of International Programs and requires strong communication across cultures.

The position is 1-year temporary with renewal potential, involving travel, visa coordination, and program management.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required.
• Two/three years of professional experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must communicate effectively in Mandarin Chinese, both spoken and written.
• Must be able to travel domestically and internationally, with a flexible schedule.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Initiative, independence and leadership skills are essential.
• Must have experience making presentations to large groups.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software quickly.
• Experience and ability to positively interact with a diverse campus community.
• Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop international partnerships (e.g. 1+3, 2+2, exchange partners, sponsored programs).
• Foster strong relationships with partner institutions through regular communication and engagement.
• Manage the international partnership programs budget and agreements.
• Prepare reports on partnership activities and keep track of exchange balance.
• Coordinate visa applications and travel reservations for SVSU delegations.
• Plan agendas and logistics for delegations and visiting scholars.
• Manage apartments for international visiting scholars.
• Facilitate cultural trips for international students and scholars.
• Provide advising to help international students adjust and belong on campus.
• Assist exchange students through application, enrollment, academic advising, and billing.
• Track students, ratios, and budgets of exchange programs.
• Coordinate and promote cultural exchange events with partners.
• Assist in hiring adjunct faculty to teach abroad at partner institutions.
• Manage social media and promotional materials for partnership programs.
• Support inbound Short-Study programs of partner schools.
• Translate partner communications between English and Mandarin Chinese as needed.
• Attend conferences for professional development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
