Job summary

Cummins Inc. is seeking a Global Operations Excellence Director to lead enterprise initiatives across manufacturing. The role will define functional processes, governance, and data standards to improve end-to-end value streams.

The director will partner with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering, HSE, and plant leadership, traveling to U.S. plants 50%+ and guiding global OE practices. Ideal candidates will have deep Lean/Six Sigma expertise, strategic leadership experience, and a track

Qualifications

• College degree or equivalent required with significant managerial exposure.
• Experience leading strategic initiatives across multiple functions.
• Ability to sponsor large, complex projects and redesign processes.
• Broad knowledge of manufacturing and functional processes.
• Knowledge of quality practices and ability to train others.
• This role may require export control/sanctions licensing compliance.
• Strong leadership and change-management capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise governance of manufacturing processes, systems, capabilities, and data.
• Define and deploy the OE roadmap across plants and regions.
• Champion Lean, Six Sigma, and OE to improve productivity and customer outcomes.
• Set functional maturity goals and strategic roadmaps with business leaders.
• Define functional metrics aligned to SQDCE objectives and value chains.
• Drive standards, assessments, and maturity evaluations with site accountability.
• Develop global position profiles, competencies, and learning strategies.
• Build OE capability through coaching, training, and leadership development.
• Partner across Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering, HSE, and plants.
• Identify growth opportunities through industry engagement and research.
• Prioritize improvements, assign work, track milestones, inform leadership.
• Lead and develop a network of OE leaders and champions across sites.
