Job summary

Amazon is seeking an Operations Engineer in Chicago to lead cross-functional projects for sortation and distribution solutions, planning facility network infrastructure including new builds, retrofits and expansions. You will partner with internal customers and vendors to ensure timely handover and successful implementation.

Role requires up to 80% travel and relocation flexibility; relocation assistance may be provided.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other STEM field.
• Experience managing lifecycle of cross-functional projects and implementing automated equipment or integrated systems.
• Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Independently manage complex project lifecycles across organizations and geographies, delivering on objectives and targets as project owner.
• Participate in engineering reviews, providing impact on system solutions, architecture, and facility processes.
• Partner with internal teams, stakeholders, and vendors to set priorities, establish milestones, and drive schedules.
• Lead execution of systems and automated equipment designs per established standards; perform installation, throughput, and safety qualifications.
• Document discussions, decisions, and action items to ensure alignment.
• Communicate project status, risk analysis, and mitigation plans to leadership.
• Articulate system and equipment designs, including layouts, specifications, and capabilities.
• Travel up to 80% domestically.
