Job summary

Nova Shipping in Michigan seeks an experienced Ocean Import Operations Coordinator to join our team. You will manage end-to-end ocean import shipments from origin to delivery and maintain proactive communication with customers.

You will coordinate with overseas agents, carriers, terminals, brokers, and trucking partners while monitoring vessel arrivals and clearance processes. The role requires strong problem-solving, organization, and multitasking in a fast-paced environment, with Spanish

Qualifications

• Experience in ocean freight/import operations is preferred.
• Solid knowledge of logistics, ocean freight, and supply chain processes.
• Understanding of FCL import operations and shipping documentation.
• Familiarity with ocean carriers, terminals, brokers, and trucking operations.
• Strong communication and organization abilities; able to handle multiple shipments.
• Spanish language skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle ocean import shipments from pre-alert through final delivery
• Coordinate with overseas agents, shipping lines, terminals, customs brokers, truckers, and customers
• Monitor vessel arrivals, container availability, customs clearance, and delivery
• Track free time and proactively prevent demurrage, detention, and storage
• Manage documentation, releases, arrival notices, and shipment updates
• Resolve operational issues and keep customers informed throughout the shipment
• Review and coordinate destination charges and vendor invoices
