Job summary

Amphenol Communications Solutions in Raleigh, NC is seeking an NPI Engineer - Laser Welding to join the CBS Global NPI organization. You will serve as the global process owner for laser welding, define technology roadmaps, and enable new products across multiple manufacturing sites with travel up to 30-50%.

The role partners with Product Engineering during design reviews, develops robust process windows using DOE and analysis, and leads production-readiness activities including FAT/SAT and site

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical/manufacturing/optical/electrical engineering, physics, materials engineering, or related field.
• 3–5 years hands-on industrial laser-welding experience.
• Strong knowledge of laser-material interaction, weld-joint design, optics, beam delivery, and safety.
• Experience using DOE, SPC, capability analysis, destructive/non-destructive evaluation, and process validation.

Responsibilities

• Own laser-welding technology roadmap and deployment across CBS factories.
• Partner with Product Engineering during design reviews to assess joint geometry, material compatibility, access, tolerances, clamping, heat input, weldability, inspection methods, and manufacturability.
• Develop robust process windows using DOE and engineering analysis (power/energy, speed, focus, beam position, shielding, clamping, gap, motion, recipe control).
• Convert concepts into repeatable production solutions and deploy via equipment specification, FAT/SAT, site qualification, training, correlation, and handoff.
• Provide global technical escalation and cross-site coaching to maintain weld quality and process stability.
