Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking a Network Architect to design and implement its global network and related services. You will lead engineering teams, translate concepts into physical designs, and collaborate with operations to improve availability and performance.

The role requires deep expertise in IP networking, data center strategies, security, and vendor technologies, with on-call responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent technical degree.
• 15+ years managing and designing IP network solutions with a four-year degree, or 20+ years with equivalent experience.
• 10+ years with routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).
• 10+ years with WAN/LAN and transport technologies (MPLS, DWDM, Ethernet).
• Experience with SD-WAN and network security technologies (IPsec, VPN).
• Strong knowledge of QoS, NTP, DHCP; SNMP, SSH, HTTPS, AAA; experience with data center and hosting strategies.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement Northern Trust’s global network.
• Lead and mentor network design and engineering teams.
• Translate logical designs into physical implementations considering capacity, availability, and performance.
• Serve as escalation point for network issues and participate in on-call rotation.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to align network solutions with business goals.
