Job summary

Coverys is seeking an Underwriter to underwrite medical professional liability, focusing on groups and facilities, to build a profitable book of business.

This role supports underwriting through leadership, collaboration and innovation, encouraging colleagues and cross-functional teamwork. The candidate will analyze information, determine class and premiums, and communicate decisions effectively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• CPCU and/or RPLU studies preferred.
• Active Property and Casualty license required.
• 4+ years of Medical Professional Liability underwriting experience required.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex information including regulatory materials, loss runs, and industry reports.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software applications.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes information to decide on account acceptance or declination and determine classification.
• Approves applications, renewals, and endorsements within authority; determines rating and premiums.
• Communicates underwriting decisions clearly and documents them accurately.
• Manages territory within guidelines while meeting financial objectives.
• Develops relationships with agent/broker partners through effective communication.
• Coordinates and leads training on underwriting processes.
