Job summary

IonQ, Inc. is seeking a dynamic Global Media Relations Director to lead our global media strategy and external narrative.

This role partners with the Global Marketing & Communications team to secure premium earned media, safeguard brand reputation, and translate complex quantum breakthroughs into accessible stories for global audiences. The role requires deep media relationships, strong financial and technical communications expertise, and a track record of training executives and SMEs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or a relevant scientific/technical field.
• 8+ years in media relations or corporate communications, with 4+ years in deep-technology industries.
• Track record of securing earned media in top-tier financial and tech publications.
• Exceptional writing and storytelling under tight deadlines.
• Experience media-training C-suite and PhDs; strong executive presence.
• Experience leveraging AI-powered tools for drafting, monitoring, and sentiment analysis.

Responsibilities

• Drive Top-Tier Earned Media across global business, financial, broadcast, deep-tech, and scientific outlets.
• Oversee agency performance within IonQ's Global Marketing & Communications leadership team.
• Coach executives and SMEs; develop briefing materials and media training.
• Position internal experts for commentary and thought leadership opportunities.
• Distill complex quantum concepts into clear narratives for diverse audiences.
• Produce external materials: press releases, pitches, bios, FAQs, and playbooks.
• Maintain central media messaging repository for brand consistency.
• Collaborate with Investor Relations, Legal, Compliance, Government Affairs and People teams.
• Assist in crisis playbooks and reactive messaging; monitor brand sentiment.
• Track media metrics with Analytics team and refine strategies.
• Monitor industry trends to insert IonQ into relevant news cycles.
• Manage media lists, calendars, press kits, and collaboration tools.
