IonQ, Inc. seeks a dynamic Global Media Relations Director to lead our global media strategy and external narrative.

Drive premium earned media, safeguard brand reputation, and articulate IonQ’s technology and market leadership to global business, financial, and tech audiences. You will translate complex quantum hardware, software, and scientific breakthroughs into compelling, digestible stories while mentoring executives and SMEs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or a relevant scientific/technical field.
• 8+ years in media relations or corporate communications, with 4+ years in deep‑tech/tech industry.
• Track record of securing earned media placements across top-tier financial and tech publications.
• Exceptional ability to write with speed, precision, and clarity under tight deadlines.
• Extensive experience media-training C-suite executives and PhD-level SMEs.
• Leveraging AI-powered tools for drafting, monitoring, and sentiment analysis.

Responsibilities

• Drive Top‑Tier Earned Media across global business, financial, broadcast, deep‑tech, and scientific outlets.
• Oversee daily activities and results of IonQ’s external agencies.
• Coach executives and SMEs; develop briefing materials and media training.
• Position internal experts for commentary and key industry moments.
• Translate complex quantum concepts into clear, engaging narratives.
• Write and edit external materials: press releases, pitch decks, bios, FAQs.
• Maintain central media messaging repository for brand consistency.
• Collaborate with Investor Relations, Legal, Compliance, Government Affairs and People teams.
• Develop crisis playbooks and reactive messaging for regulatory or M&A events.
• Monitor media sentiment and share of voice; refine strategies.
• Track macro industry trends to insert IonQ into news cycles.
• Manage media distribution lists, calendars, press kits, and tools.
