Job summary

Sidley Austin LLP seeks a Practice Group Manager – Litigation to serve as the primary administrative leader for the Global Litigation Practice Group, collaborating with practice leaders, office leadership, and admin departments to advance strategic objectives across offices.

The PGM will drive consistency, efficiency, reporting, budgeting, and talent development, while coordinating with marketing, knowledge management, and revenue teams to support firmwide litigation priorities.

Qualifications

• J.D. and 5–7 years of legal practice or equivalent management experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and scheduling tools.
• Strong ability to handle complex, time-constrained environments.
• Proven negotiation and conflict management skills.
• Demonstrated client service focus with urgency.
• Flexible adapting to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Promote consistency across offices while respecting local needs.
• Foster communication among Global Practice Leaders and admin teams.
• Create customized reporting for the Global Litigation practice.
• Develop and implement strategic business plans and objectives.
• Analyze practice metrics, dashboards, and staffing reports.
• Serve as liaison between GPG and firm departments for initiatives.
• Partner with Litigation leadership to develop budgets.
• Prepare materials for internal litigation meetings.
• Define hiring needs and support lateral hiring and onboarding.
• Identify promotion candidates and prepare memos.
• Monitor staffing trends and optimize resource allocation.
• Address billing, time entry, and other operational issues.
• Implement best practices for efficient service delivery.
