Job summary

TARGAN, Inc. in Raleigh, NC seeks a Commercial Systems Engineer to deploy, support, and improve commercial and production systems globally.

You will manage Linux-based infrastructure (Ubuntu) and Azure IoT deployments, ensuring secure, scalable operations across manufacturing and cloud services. The role emphasizes automation (SaltStack, MAAS), networking and security administration (Fortinet), and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in IT/CS/Engineering.
• 5–7 years administering Linux systems, preferably Ubuntu.
• 2–3 years with Azure IoT services (IoT Hub and DPS).
• 3+ years supporting enterprise networking environments.
• Experience with infrastructure automation and provisioning.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain Linux-based infra (Ubuntu focus).
• Support production systems across global locations.
• Patch, tune, monitor, and harden systems for security.
• Manage server provisioning, upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning.
• Create and maintain operational documentation and procedures.
• Support Azure IoT deployments and device onboarding.
• Configure enterprise networking and Fortinet security.
• Automate infrastructure with SaltStack and MAAS.
• Participate in on-call rotation and DR planning.
