Job summary

Thom Browne, Inc. is seeking a Global Legal Counsel who will advise the leadership team across a broad range of matters, from governance to contracts and IP. This role partners with senior executives to manage risk, align legal strategy with business growth, and coordinate with external counsel as needed.

The ideal candidate has substantial in-house and top-tier firm experience, with a track record in multinational and luxury retail sectors, and can operate effectively in a lean environment.

Qualifications

• JD degree and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 5+ years of relevant experience, ideally combining top-tier law firm experience with in-house responsibilities.
• Experience in fashion, luxury, retail, consumer products, or lifestyle sectors preferred.
• Expertise across corporate governance, commercial contracting, compliance, IP coordination, and multinational legal support.
• Experience supporting international operations and collaborating with stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical advice.
• Ability to operate independently in a lean legal environment while coordinating external counsel.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and highly collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary legal advisor for Thom Browne US while overseeing international operations.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a broad range of commercial agreements, including vendor, supplier, manufacturing, distribution, licensing, technology, marketing, influencer, partnership, and service contracts.
• Provide day-to-day legal counsel and practical business-oriented guidance to stakeholders across Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Human Resources, Marketing, Retail, Wholesale, and Commercial functions.
• Advise senior leadership on legal, regulatory, governance, employment, and business risk matters with commercially balanced recommendations.
• Support corporate governance activities, including entity management, corporate records, board and shareholder matters, and coordination with external advisors.
• Coordinate intellectual property matters, including trademark and copyright protection, brand enforcement, anti-counterfeiting efforts, and management of external IP counsel.
• Support compliance initiatives and legal policies across the organization, ensuring adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
• Develop, maintain, and improve legal templates, playbooks, policies, and processes for scalable legal support.
• Identify legal risks and proactively recommend solutions that support business objectives while protecting the company’s interests.
• Manage relationships with external law firms and specialized advisors, overseeing legal spend and resource allocation.
• Support strategic projects, international initiatives, organizational developments, and corporate transactions as required.
• Partner with the CEO and Group General Counsel to strengthen the company’s legal and governance framework.

Education

Juris Doctor (JD) degree

THE ROLE

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and functionally to the Group General Counsel, the Global Legal Counsel will serve as a key trusted advisor to Thom Browne’s leadership team, providing strategic and practical legal guidance across a broad range of matters.

This is a highly visible and multifaceted role with responsibilities spanning corporate governance, commercial contracting, compliance, intellectual property, and general legal affairs. While the majority of the legal activity supports the US Corporate, the position also provides oversight, guidance, and coordination on legal matters impacting Thom Browne’s global operations.

The successful candidate will partner closely with senior leadership to support business growth, protect the company’s interests, strengthen governance practices, and ensure effective risk management across the organization. Operating in a lean and dynamic environment, this individual will manage a wide range of legal matters directly while coordinating specialized external counsel when appropriate.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a broad range of commercial agreements, including vendor, supplier, manufacturing, distribution, licensing, technology, marketing, influencer, partnership, and service contracts.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Previous experience within the fashion, luxury, retail, consumer products, or lifestyle sectors strongly preferred.

WHAT WE OFFER YOU

• Competitive compensation. Salary Range is $120,000 to 135,000 plus target bonus. Please note that compensation will be offered based on relevant skills and experience
