Job summary

Ciena is seeking a Category Lead to drive global strategic sourcing for indirect spend, covering technical, engineering, Capex, and MRO. You will optimize costs, monitor supplier performance, and ensure compliance across the procurement function.

Lead RFI/RFP processes, vendor evaluation, contract negotiations, and supplier selection while partnering with internal stakeholders. Requires 5+ years in indirect procurement and 3+ years in category management, Ottawa location.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven track record in indirect procurement or strategic sourcing roles.
• 3+ years in category management.
• Strong negotiation skills and application of procurement contract management.
• Experience with procurement software and Microsoft Office tools (Excel/PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement category strategies for assigned indirect spend categories including technical and engineering teams, Capex, and MRO.
• Lead end-to-end sourcing activities: RFI/RFP development, vendor evaluation, contract negotiation, and supplier selection.
• Build relationships with internal stakeholders to align procurement activities with business requirements.
• Manage supplier performance, contract compliance, and issue resolution.
• Drive continuous improvement using procurement best practices and technology solutions.
• Develop and present category performance, savings, and key metrics to leadership.
