Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. in Rahway, NJ seeks a Director of Oncology Global Communications – Hematology to lead day-to-day communications for the hematology portfolio. You will work under the Executive Director of Global Oncology Communications in a fast-paced environment.

You will develop integrated programs, collaborate with R&D, IR, Commercial and Policy teams, and manage regional messaging while guiding a direct report. Strong strategic and storytelling skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Eight (8) years' experience in communications or public relations within pharma or related industry.
• Hematology/oncology product communications experience preferred but not required.
• Excellent written and oral communications across mediums.
• Experience leading disease awareness, product communications, and regulatory milestones.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement integrated communications programs for hematology portfolio and launches (five pipeline assets).
• Provide strategic external communications support across portfolio (press releases, media materials, leadership, meetings, social/digital content).
• Lead planning and execution in partnership with cross-functional teams including R&D, IR, Commercial, Policy and Market Access.
• Develop and execute communications strategies to build company reputation in hematology aligned with corporate narratives.
• Anticipate issues and prepare crisis communications for hematology portfolio with cross-functional partners.
• Create communications for use by regions and subsidiaries worldwide; advise regions on franchise communications issues.
• Serve as liaison to advocacy groups and external experts to advance disease education and patient-centered programs.
• Collaborate with PR agencies and manage related budgets.
• Manage direct report supporting hematology portfolio.
