Job summary

Merck & Co. is seeking a Director of Oncology Global Communications - Hematology to lead day-to-day communications for the hematology portfolio.

You will report to the Executive Director, Global Oncology Communications, in a fast-paced environment and guide external communications, data milestones, and launch messaging. Qualifications

• Eight+ years in a communications or public relations role within the pharmaceutical or related industries (hospital, public health, etc.).
• Hematology/oncology product communications experience is strongly preferred but not required.
• Excellent written and oral communications across mediums with the ability to develop clear, persuasive materials under time pressure.
• Experience leading disease awareness, product communications, scientific communications, and/or approval and launch milestones in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement integrated communications programs and strategies for the hematology portfolio and near-term product launches (five pipeline assets).
• Provide strategic external communications support across the portfolio (press releases, media materials, executive thought leadership, medical meeting communications, digital content).
• Lead strategic planning and execution of communications with cross-functional partners (R&D, Investor Relations, Commercial, Policy, Market Access).
• Develop and execute communication strategies to establish the portfolio's reputation aligned with corporate narrative and business priorities.
• Anticipate issues and prepare crisis communications for the portfolio in partnership with cross-functional teams.
• Develop regional and subsidiary communication strategies and materials; advise regions on franchise and product communications.
